I’m officially Saabless and ready to move on to the next project - hopefully one that will be more fruitful.
The wife still wants me to beef up the Dak but since it is a daily driver slash tow vehicle I can’t exactly throw Dana 44s and a big-ass lift on it until we get another truck. SOOOOOOOOOO....
Looks like I’m getting that ‘86 IROC.

It was too far gone and a shadow of what I wanted. I had an ‘87 SPG (in Edwardian Grey with charcoal interior, like it should be ). It was totaled in a hit and run, so I later bought a beat-up ‘87 T16 and threw all the SPG parts on it. It was black.
Then things broke. I was spending more time working on it than driving it. Then I blew the head gasket. I pulled the head and saw rings popped off of cyls 2 and 3. I grew tired of it and, since it wasn’t the SPG I loved in the first place, I parted it out. Shell left this weekend.

At least I got to enjoy it for a bit - and it was every bit as enjoyable as I expected it to be - and checked off one of my must-have cars. On to the next, as they say.

I’ll get another Saab some day. Maybe a 95, or hold out for a Monte Carlo 850. Something about a freewheelin’ 2-stroke touches me in my special place
